Nothing is asked about your child. No name, no school, no local authority, no diagnosis, no medical history, no case detail. Only an email address, and a first name if you choose to give one.
To send you the link to the editable template files, and to tell you when a template changes because the law, statutory guidance or a government form has changed. That second part matters: a letter that quotes a superseded deadline is worse than no letter.
Consent, under the UK GDPR. You give it by entering your address; you withdraw it by clicking unsubscribe at the foot of any email. Withdrawing does not remove your access to files you have already downloaded.
The list is held by Kit (formerly ConvertKit), an email service based in the United States, acting as a processor. Your address is transferred outside the UK on that basis. Kit's own privacy terms are at kit.com/privacy.
It is not sold, rented, swapped or shared with schools, local authorities, solicitors, advocacy services or advertisers. It is not used to market unrelated books. It is not combined with anything else to build a profile.
Until you unsubscribe, or after three years of no opens, whichever comes first. Unsubscribed addresses are held only as a suppression record so that you are not added again by accident.
You can ask for a copy of what is held, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Write to hello@marcuswrightbooks.co.uk and it will be done within one month. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Subscribing to a list about special educational needs can imply something about a child, even though nothing about the child is recorded. If you would rather not leave that trace, use an address that is not tied to your name, or buy the print volume and type the letters out. Neither choice changes what you get.
